SUCCESSFUL BOOK SIGNING EVENT
List of Suggestions
1. Contact Local Media (Newspapers (Del Mar Times, Village Voice, Carmel Valley News, La Jolla Light, San Diego Union Tribune, etc. You can also send a press release to the local Radio and TV news stations, etc..) Tell them you are an author, doing a book signing/event at Earth Song Books & Gifts, and are interested in giving them an interview (without an interview, it will just appear as a small announcement, which is better than nothing, but go for the interview if you can.)
2. Mail or bring to the store a mounted on Styrofoam board Poster (approx. size 3’ x 2.5’) preferably done in color, 3-4 weeks prior to signing.
Contents on the Poster:
1. Copy of the Front Cover of your book with a short summary of the book
2. Small insert with the Author’s Picture and a short bio
3. Announce the event with a phrase like: “Meet the Author”, “Free Event”, “Book Signing”, etc…
4. If you decide to have any kind of refreshments, you are welcome to bring them in. Make sure to state it on your poster with phrases like: “Refreshments will be served”, “Join us for glass of wine!”, etc…

6. Visible date and time of signing:
i.e. Wednesday, November 3, 2010
6 pm to 8 pm
7. Send all information to our e-mail address: earthsongbooks@gmail.com so we can post it on our website and email it to our mailing list.
8. Send e-mails to all your acquaintances, friends and relatives, etc, announcing the event and inviting them to joining you in celebration of your book. Do it as soon as you schedule the event.
9. Print as many fliers as your budget allows (8x10 copy of your poster) and distribute them through out Del Mar and the neighboring towns (Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, La Jolla, San Diego, Rancho Bernardo, Downtown, etc.) Also, you can send us one to put in our door window.
10. Place your fliers everywhere you can think of: coffee shops, gas stations, libraries, churches, etc.
11. Send a second “reminder” e-mail to everyone you sent it first time one week before signing.
