Attention DMVA/City Council
It has come to our attention again from local business owners on Camino Del Mar that the city plans on redoing the sidewalks in March. We believe that we wrote to you concerning this issue before, however, we feel that it is important for us to reiterate where we stand. As business owners and tax payers, we are completely against this, but especially in March when our busiest season begins. Even just one week of lost sales, which is what it was last year is too much and can be equal to $10,000 or more in loss per business. We feel it is unfair and wish that the city would instead spend their tax dollars on advertising and bringing more people and shoppers to Del Mar. We do not know if you know or if you even shop locally, but the local businesses have been hit very hard and many are closing their doors or combining their spaces so as to decrease their rent. No one that we have spoken to sees any reason for redoing the sidewalks when there are so many other issues at hand that should be addressed.
